DETAILS OF CRUISE
THE LIFFEY CRUISE 16/17 SEPTEMBER 2017
We have forty boats and about 120 for Hog Roast aboard Cillairne.
All three bridges will lift starting SATURDAY with the East Link first at 1430 hours. Make sure you are not late by arriving in the vicinity or alongside the Poolbeg SC with at least an hour to go. Its a good idea to have lunch at Poolbeg and relax with friends.
Once through East Link which we do by keeping very close together, we make our way up the Liffey past Samuel Beckett and Sean O'Casey bridges, to the Matt Talbot footbridge which does not open.
Take your time and fly your flags! fly your spinnaker is wind permits.
Then proceed to the new Port Pontoon just at the Point Depot which has plenty of room for all. Big boats inside, Smaller ones rafted out. I will send berthing plan during the coming week.
There is no power or water but there is security.
WE ARE ON CILLAIRNE AGAIN - AS LAST YEAR FOR HOG ROAST at 2030 hours
Between berthing at the pontoon around 1530 hours and 19:30 its up to you how you spend your time but please be aboard Cilliarne no later than1945 hours. Because of the extra time on the pontoon this year, there is time to have a look at our own city and perhaps do things like get the HOP on HOP OFF bus and lots of other attractions.
We encourage meeting aboard on our boats around 1830 for a communal raising of the glasses prior to proceeding to Cillairne.
The main event is the Pig Roast at 2030hrs FOR 20 EURO INCLUDING A GLASS OF WINE! But there is no hurry to queue since there will be plenty to go around. Salad and Potatoes are included. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CASH TO PAY AND YOU WILL GET AN ARMBAND TO SHOW THE CHEF THAT YOU HAVE PAID. Please try to avoid credit cards or other complicated ways of paying.
The music starts at 2200 with Fred Fortune who entertained us so well last year. If you haven’t heard him, well, he is something else and you can join in!
The St Brigid will be transiting eastbound through East Link at 1100 and we will follow her through and the bridge will not open at 1200 hours as last year. So be ready to depart at 1030 latest off your pontoon berth and circling close to East Link. Or have an extended sojourn in the Liffey free of charge!
